Take home Delhi Metro for Rs.10,000!

New Delhi, Jan 1 In the New Year, be ambitious. Don't buy a motorcycle or a car, instead take home a Delhi Metro train and that too only for Rs.10,000 — well, at least a handcrafted model of the train.

The Delhi Metro on Thursday launched the first handcrafted model on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Delhi Metro Museum at the Patel Chowk station here.

"The train model, of the size 360 mm x 50 mm x 60 mm, is made of high quality plastic and is covered by transparent acrylic plastic sheets. The model has been designed and specially hand made keeping in mind all the minute details and specifications of the original Metro train," Delhi Metro spokesman Anuj Dayal said.

Mahinder Jeet Singh, the craftsman of the model, said that initially he has given 10 models to the Delhi Metro. "It took me almost two months to finish 10 models," he said.

'Metro Through the Lens', a 10-day long photo exhibition on the Delhi Metro, also began on the occasion. About 70 high resolution photographs, contributed by leading publications and newspapers of the capital, have been put on display.

These photographs highlight the decade long illustrious journey of the Metro system that has changed the face of the national capital. The exhibition would be open for public viewing from Friday till January 9, 2010.
