Jaipur Literature Fest to host Vikram Chandra, Tina Brown

New Delhi, Dec 19 The fifth edition of the five-day Jaipur Literature Festival, beginning on January 21, will host authors like Vikram Chandra, Tina Brown, Hanif Kureishi and Mahasweta Devi.

The festival, to be held at the Diggy Palace in the heart of Jaipur city, will offer a mix of literature, theatre, music and films - along with panel discussions and readings by renowned authors from across the world, a statement issued by the Jaipur Virasat Foundation, which puts together the festival, said on Friday.

It will also showcase the publishing trade opportunities in the country.

According to the organisers, the list of authors include Vikram Chandra, Tina Brown, Tenzin Tsundue, Steve Coll, Stephen Frears, Salima Hashmi, Pavan Verma, Mahasweta Devi, Mark Tully, Lawrence Wright, Hanif Kureishi, Esther Frued, Claire Messud, Christophe Jaffrelot, Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuk and Alexander McCall Smith.

"The Jaipur Literature Festival is a celebration of Indian and international authors. Having established itself as one of Asia's leading literary events, it presents a complete literary and culture showcase - fusing the two closely-linked genres," festival producer Sanjoy Roy said.

The Jaipur Literature Festival had earlier hosted some of the best-selling international authors like Salman Rushdie, Vikram Seth, Kiran Desai, Pico Iyer, Nadeem Aslam, Thomas Keneally, Christopher Hampton, Patrick French and Colin Thoubron.

The festival has been conceived by authors William Dalrymple and Namita Gokhale.
