Saudi secures Indian's release

Dubai, June 7: His love for Indians made a Saudi Arabian businessman fly from Riyadh to Jizan at his own expense to secure the release of an Indian truck driver who was jailed for causing an accident.

Businessman Abdullah Al-Nahadh came to know that an Indian truck driver, K. Mohammed, was jailed in Jizan, a province in southwestern Saudi Arabia, after he collided with a Yemeni national.

According to the Arab News newspaper, the Yemeni crossed into Saudi Arabia illegally and was running away from Saudi border guards when the accident happened. The victim is still in coma.

According to the report, Al-Nahadh flew to Jizan Saturday, secured Mohammed's release and brought the Indian back to Riyadh.

Al-Nahadh has been in the news earlier also for his philanthropic deeds towards Indians.

He had rescued four Indians involved in serious road accidents from imprisonment by mobilising his personal resources and contacts.

In March, he helped secure the release of an Indian truck driver who was charged with killing two Saudi youths in an accident.

The report quoted Al-Nahadh as saying that he would always extend his services to help Indians facing trouble.

"I like Indians very much. They are a hard working and peace-loving people," he told the newspaper.

There are over 1.5 million Indians residing in Saudi Arabia.
