Amity forays into Oman

Dubai, July 1: Leading Indian education group Amity is now offering its various management training programmes in Oman through the Khimji Training Institute (KTI).

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by KTI director Pankaj Khimji and Aseem K. Chauhan, additional president and board member of Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF), the umbrella organisation of the Amity Educational Foundation in India, reported the Oman Tribune newspaper.

KTI is a quality-training provider in IT sales, management and government-funded programmes for Omanisation.

"KTI is dedicated to Omanisation. Our new partnership of education development programmes in the Sultanate is for the Omanis and not just for expatriates," a report quoted Khimji as saying.

Oman is home to over 300,000 Indians.

According to the MoU, initially, short-term professional courses from the Amity Institute of Training and Development would be offered.

Later, certificate, advanced certificate, diploma and specialised training programmes for individuals and corporate entities would be introduced.

The Amity group in India has over 40,000 students on its rolls. Its 72 institutions are spread over 22 campuses.

The Oman venture is the first foray of the group in the Middle East.

"As one of the largest groups in the private education sector in India, it is a logical move for us to offer our expertise to the outside world. Oman in the Middle East is our first stop and I am confident that we have found the right partners in KTI," the newspaper quoted Chauhan as saying.
