NRIs to set up hospital chain

Dubai, July 11: The Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) is planning to launch a chain of satellite hospitals in Kerala.

MIMS, run by a group of non-resident Indian (NRI) doctors residing in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, has already acquired four acres of land in Kottakal in Malappuram district of the state for the purpose, according to a report in the Khaleej Times newspaper.

MIMS chairman Azad Moopen told the newspaper that the promoters are aiming to deliver world-class healthcare in the state through state-of-the-art technology and highly qualified professionals.

"We are going nearer to the people and ensuring better accessibility and affordability to quality healthcare," he was quoted as saying.

MIMS, established five years ago, has over 100 healthcare professionals in its fold.
